Rome

A trip to Rome

Rome, the city of history, the journey to the past. That’s actually my first trip on my own and I must say that I loved it! The reason is that I got to do whatever I wanted to without any complications, disagreements and hard feelings. See, this is actually my second trip to Rome; my first one was during a period of time where I was exhausted physically and I didn’t enjoy to the max. However, this time, I got to be with myself and I got to enjoy my own company. I walked a lot through the city and I thought a lot about things. It really helped me appreciate life and myself .

I walked so much through this stunning ancient city and admired it’s beauty in every step. Through the beautiful Villa Borhgese Gardens i found my way towards the Pantheon and Fontana di Trevi.

I winded my way across the Tiber river to my favorite medieval neighborhood, Trastevere. Full of little shops, bars and cobblestone side streets. Then I went to my favorite pizza place to eat, Dar Poeta. They have the best pizza I have ever had in Italy! After the delicious pizza I walked my way back to the airbnb I was staying. I was exhausted but it was worth every single step of my 26000 ones that day! I slept for almost 12 hours that night.

Vatican City

The next day I visited the Vatican. Absolutely stunning. The museums where really worth visiting but you do need a lot of time to properly admire the art and beauty. Our tour guide explained a lot about the Sistine Chapel and I was wowed by Michelangelo paintings and specifically by The Last Judgement. However, I was not able to take any pictures because they are not allowed. St. Peter’s square is the last stop of the tour.

On my way back I came across the Hard Rock cafe..it had been ages since I had a proper american burger in Italy so I didn’t feel sorry and I enjoyed every bite along with a pine of a red Peroni.
Heading back to the airbnb I noticed a movie cinema and I was very glad that they had English speaking movies. Here in Italy they translate all movies in Italian so since I came here I only went to the cinema once (to my great disappointment as I love movies and going to the cinema).

Last day in Rome I enjoyed strolling around the city and and admiring all this history that was expanding in front of my eyes in every step.
This trip taught me to love my company and myself; Thank you Rome, I had an amazing time xx
