The wonderful world of Crystals

Today I want to write about a world that I was always fascinated about. I had always been drawn to crystals and I was trying to find the right one for me. Diving into this magical world had me realize that there is not just the right crystal for me as I was mesmerized by all of them. Every crystal is unique and different so I started gathering information about each one; their properties, healing and spiritual, their powerful ability to release mental, physical, and spiritual blockages and how they help to balance the body, mind and spirit.

A little bit of history

Healing crystals and gemstones have been used for thousands of years by ancient civilizations; the Egyptians, Aztecs, and others incorporated healing stones into jewelry, cosmetics, decorative statues, amulets, and much more. Ancients Egyptians also used various crystals and gems in the materials for building the pyramids and also their magical burial rites. The Atlanteans were said to have an advanced technology and power supply based on crystals.

The Ancient Greeks ascribed a number of properties to crystals and many of their names that we use today are of Greek origin. The word ‘crystal’ actually comes from the Greek word for ice; as it was believed that clear quartz was water that had frozen so deeply that it would always remain solid. The word amethyst means ‘not drunken’ and was worn as an amulet to prevent both drunkenness and hangovers. Hematite comes from the word for blood, because of the red coloration produced when it oxidizes. Hematite is an iron ore and the ancient Greeks associated iron with Aries, the god of war. Greek soldiers would rub hematite over their bodies before battle, allegedly to make themselves invulnerable.

In China jade was highly valued and was recognized as a kidney healing stone. Crystals were (and are) used for healing in traditional Chinese Medicine, which dates back to at least 5000 years.

They have fascinating properties that are intimately connected to the essence of life. They are alive, they grow an they have their own blueprints that are governed by sacred geometry principles. Marcel Vogel, was a research scientist who discovered many properties of the crystals. According to him, the geometric structure of crystals is according to the tree of life pattern from Kabbalah. And because of this it caused the flow and storage of life force energy in the form of negative ions.

The crystal is a neutral object whose inner structure exhibits a state of perfection and balance. When it is cut to the proper form and when the human mind enters into relationship with its structural perfection, the crystal emits a vibration which extends and amplifies the power of the user’s mind. Like a laser, it radiates energy in a coherent, highly concentrated form, and this energy may be transmitted into objects or people at will.

How do crystals grow

Some grow in rivers, others grow through the evaporation of water, like salt or sugar crystals. Some grow in caves like stalactites and stalagmites which are formed as minerals get deposited by the dripping water. There are crystals that grow deep in the earth with layers of heat and pressure. Crystals form in different ways but they all form according to sacred geometry.

Crystal are different because of the defects included in their perfect structure, they give them its character and uniqueness. This is interesting if you consider us humans. Each of us has its own defects which are part of our gifts and our natural unique purpose that we are here to fulfil. They make each and everyone of us unique. They are not to be pushed away but embraced and explored to discover our unique expression.

Crystals as healing tools

When working with crystals we work with mother Earth energy. The energy of manifestation and being grounded; the energy of life. We talk about flowing energy or light within them. When using them for healing purposes we are sending a form of light through them, a spiritual light. The crystal takes that energy in and then it may color it, amplify it or retract it in a certain way to spread it out. It depends on the crystal also because different crystals work in different ways. One of the best crystals to work with for transmitting light in a pure way is quartz. Quartz has many properties and one of the amazing things about quartz is that it generates its own energy.

Spiritual practice

A great way to harness their healing power is by using them for manifesting our intentions and what we wish to create in our life.

These ethereal rocks connect us to the Earth because they are real, physical forms that have powerful vibrations. This energy continues to connect with us when we wear them close to the skin or place them in our environment. With every thought and intention, these crystals pick up on our unique vibrational energy and amplify the positive vibes that we are cultivating. We can build personal intuitive relationships with various types of crystals and use them to anchor protective grids that enhance the space around us.

In this magical world of vibrations, crystal energy helps us on our spiritual journey because it works to hold our intention and remind us of our connection to the Earth.

There are so many benefits and uses of each crystal that it’s impossible to cover all of them in a single post. In future posts I will focus on individual crystals and explore their healing and spiritual properties in depth. It takes a conscious effort to open our heart and mind to the power of crystal healing; but once we begin, our journey will be full of beautiful, mysterious, and unique crystals that will blow our mind.
