Do you believe in Fairies?

Fairies. Winged, cheerful and wonderfully enchanting entities which have long been associated with the forces and elements of nature since antiquity.

We all have heard fairy tales when we were children. These ethereal beings have accompanied us in our childhood dreams and have often sparked our imagination. Ever wondered whether fairies are not just a mere belief but a reality?

Wikipedia describes fairies as human in appearance and having magical powers. It explains that early modernΒ fairiesΒ do not derive from a single origin; the term is a mix of diverse elements from folk sources, influenced by literature and speculation.Β

One of the strongest arguments for the existence of fairies and other spirits of nature, but also of the angels themselves, is the fact that their description by the various nations of antiquity was exactly the same, although they had no contact with each other. In addition, there are newer testimonies of people who came in contact with these ethereal beings.

Fairies around the World

They exist in the myths of all nations, while in antiquity they were worshiped under various names and were considered protectors of nature and all that exists in it; from humble streams and springs to trees, seas, forests and mountains.

Depending on the region, fairies are said to live in woodland communities, underground kingdoms, or inhabit lakes, hills, or stone orΒ grass circles β€” often along with centaurs, elves, ogres, gnomes and other such animals.

Although in modern culture they are often described as young, sometimes winged, humanoids of small size, they originally were portrayed quite differently: tall, radiant, angelic beings or short, wrinkled trolls being two of the commonly mentioned forms. Tiny fairies of one kind or another have been recorded for centuries, but occur alongside the human-sized beings; these have been reported as ranging in size from very tiny up to the size of a human child. However, even with these small fairies, their small size may be magically assumed rather than determined.

Wings, while common in Victorian and later artwork of fairies, are very rare in the folklore; even very small fairies flew with magic, sometimes flying on ragwort stems or the backs of birds. Nowadays, fairies are often portrayed with ordinary insect or butterfly wings.

In Celtic religion, there was Celtic deities (supernatural being considered divine or sacred) in Gaul (France and Belgium), Hispania (Spain) and Britannia (Britain) during the Roman occupation of these regions or provinces. But the situation changed when Christianity spread to the west and north. These deities that were worshipped before the conversion to Christianity, were reduced to the status of fairies in Celtic mythology and folklore. So in Ireland the gods in the Tuatha De Danann were degenerated to the roles of fairies (eg. Dagda and Lugh), people living under the dune mound or fabled islands, or even within underwater domains.

Similar degeneration occurred with old deities in Wales, Scotland and other surviving pockets of Celtic kingdoms (such as Cornwall, Brittany and island of Man). These earlier Celtic traditions of fairies, the former Irish or Welsh deities were also not fairies in the usual sense. They looked very much like human, in size and shape, except that they have special magical powers and they seemed eternally young, but they don’t have wings. The Dananns or their Welsh counterparts were usually seen as race of fair people. They can die just as mortals can, but their lives could last hundreds or even thousands of years.

In ancient Greek mythology, water separates the world of the dead and the world of the living (the River Styx). Also, it largely contributed to the regeneration of the earth after the Flood with which Zeus punished the impious. Good spirits, the nymphs – either in the rivers and lakes (Naiades, Kriniides, Potamides, Limnades) or in the sea (Nereids) – dominated water and were helpful to people. In the Greek popular tradition, Naiades have been replaced by the Fairies, Neraides, who prefer places close to water springs, fountains and rivers. Usually they appear after midnight and like to tease people, who must avoid them, especially men who might loose their voice if they speak to them.

Why we cannot see them?

The visible spectrum is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to the human eye. Electromagnetic radiation in this range of wavelengths is called visible light or simply light. A typical human eye will react to wavelengths in air from about 380 to 750 nm.

We see objects within the limits of our color spectrum. With infinite vibrations, unused by us, on either side of them. If we could conceive a race of beings which were constructed in material which threw out shorter or longer vibrations, they would be invisible unless we could tune ourselves up or tone them down. It is exactly that power of tuning up and adapting itself to other vibrations which constitutes a clairvoyant, and there is nothing scientifically impossible, in some people seeing that which is invisible to others.

Which takes us to..

According to numerous traditions, fairies exist and share the same space with us, although they live only in places of incomparable natural beauty. The Kingdom of Fairies is a completely different Realm than the Material Realm, often called the Ethereal Plane.

The difficulty to reach it, is based on our ability to expand our consciousness. They vibrate at a higher energy frequency thus we cannot see them with our naked eyes. We can only see them if our 3rd eye (governed by our forehead chakra, not ajna) is open. And even if opened, it has to be to a higher degree in order for the sights to have some form otherwise it would just be a blob of energy flying around.

While we can only see them if we expand our perception, children, boys and girls, are more likely to see them, as they are more open to experiences and their senses have not yet been altered.

So are they real?

There are countless reports around the world from people that have come in contact or have had a strange interaction or experience with a Fairy.

And all of us as well, have more or less heard stories about Fairies (or as our ancestors called them Nymphs); but are those presences real? And if they are how can we get in touch with them? Could it be that we meet them every day and we don’t even realize it? They also have a soul like all creatures in the universe. They have the ability to interact with material bodies like any form of energy. Their favorite activities, when they are not busy with the animal aspect (people, animals, plants) are the five elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth). The most common place to meet such beings are usually places outside residential areas where we meet dense vegetation or running water, maybe a spring, a cave or ancient ruins. However, it is not uncommon for them to come in direct contact with people as well.

I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?

Instead of asking ourselves if fairies are real maybe we should be asking: what proof we have that they are not?
