The road to happiness

What is happiness?

According to psychology, happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to immense joy.

In philosophy, happiness is translated from the Greek concept eudaimonia, and refers to the good life, or flourishing as opposed to an emotion. Aristotle stated that happiness is the only thing that humans desire for its own sake; unlike riches, honor, health or friendship. He observed that men sought riches, honor or health not only for their own sake but also to be happy. Note that eudaimonia, is for Aristotle an activity rather than an emotion or a state.

I think for me happiness is:

to feel whole, to have a purpose, to feel every cell in my body vibrating in positive energy.

Through the years i have realized that happiness comes in little things; things that give us joy and meaning on a daily basis. The world we live in is a beautiful one and we shouldn’t give up and let  disappointment consume us.

Happiness is there and comes from within us. Therefore, all we have to do is close our eyes and feel grateful and thankful for everything we already have. Keep watering the seed of happiness in you and the seed will bloom. Feel the energy that runs through your body from all the positive feelings and automatically you feel whole, and happy.

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
― Mahatma Gandhi

The road to happiness comes from the art of living deeply in the present moment. The present moment is the only time and place where life is happening and where we can find everything we are looking for, including love, freedom, peace, and well-being. There’s no point in flashing forward to the future or looking to the past, happiness starts now, in the present.

Happiness does not just knock on our door on a gloomy day; It’s important to understand that it’s not the moment that makes us happy but us that make the moment a happy one.

So stop trying to find it in other people because you are the only person in your life that can make you happy; you are your never ending source of happiness.

Remind yourself to smile often and make others smile as well; that will make you even happier! The happiness you feel is the reflection of the happiness you give.

Always remember that pain is part of our life, and that doesn’t make you less happy; at the end of the day we are human beings and not robots, so pain in normal because it gives birth to happiness.

Don’t forget to always nourish, treat your body well and meditate; meditation brings you closer to your inner self and in touch with the universe, which brings you immense happiness.
